Indiana State University has named Jessica Thome its new controller, effective Oct. 19. Thome is an accomplished public finance and accounting professional with more than 12 years of experience in municipal government and the private sector.
Thome will succeed longtime Indiana State financial leader Jeff Jacso, who is retiring after nearly 42 years of service to the university, including 20 years as associate vice president and university controller.
"Jessica brings financial expertise, strong leadership and a deep commitment to public service," said Indiana State President Mike Godard. "Her focus on accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement will strengthen our ability to serve students and invest in Indiana State's future. She also understands Terre Haute and the university's important role in the region. We are grateful for Jeff Jacso's nearly 42 years of service and the strong foundation he leaves for Jessica to build upon. We are excited to welcome her to the Sycamore family."
As university controller, Thome will lead Indiana State's accounting and financial reporting operations, maintain strong internal controls and support sound financial practices that advance the university's academic mission and strategic priorities.
Thome currently serves as controller for the city of Terre Haute, where she oversees the city's accounting, treasury, procurement, financial reporting, budgeting and audit functions. In that role, she leads a team of finance professionals and works across city government to support strategic decision-making and ensure responsible stewardship of public resources.
"Jessica has been a tremendous asset to the city of Terre Haute," said Terre Haute Mayor Brandon Sakbun. "While we're sad to see her leave, we're thrilled she'll be bringing her skills and experience to Indiana State University."
