Indiana State University has named alumnus and longtime WTHI-TV journalist Rondrell Moore as its new Chief Public Relations Officer beginning October 2, 2026, bringing an accomplished communications professional with deep connections to the University and the Wabash Valley into the leadership role.
Moore will lead Indiana State’s public relations efforts, including media relations, institutional communications, reputation management and strategic storytelling in support of the University’s mission and priorities.
“I have a great deal of confidence in Rondrell’s judgment, character, communication abilities, and commitment to Indiana State University,” said Indiana State University President Mike Godard. “He will bring a valuable perspective to our leadership team, and I am confident he will be an excellent representative of both the President’s Office and the University. Perhaps most importantly, Rondrell believes in Indiana State and in what this University means to our students, our community, and the State of Indiana.”
Moore is a 2008 summa cum laude graduate of Indiana State, earning a bachelor’s degree in communication with a minor in Spanish. As a student, he served as news director for WISU and as an anchor for Sycamore Video. He graduated with a 4.0 GPA and received the Hines Memorial Medal, one of Indiana State’s highest honors for academic achievement. He was also named Communication Student of the Year.
Shortly after graduation, Moore began his broadcasting career at WTHI-TV in Terre Haute, where he spent 17 years. During his career as a journalist, Moore earned two Ohio Valley Regional Emmy nominations as well as recognition from the Associated Press, Indiana Broadcasters Association and Society of Professional Journalists.
Moore also brings fundraising and higher education experience to the position. Most recently, he served as Director of Development for Indiana State University’s Bailey College of Engineering and Technology through University Advancement. During his first year in the role, he helped secure more than $3 million in scholarships, programmatic support and gifts-in-kind for the college.
“Indiana State has been an important part of my life for nearly two decades, and I am excited for the opportunity to serve my alma mater in this new capacity,” Moore said. “This University is filled with remarkable students, faculty, staff and alumni whose stories deserve to be told. I look forward to working across campus and with our partners throughout the community to share those stories and help strengthen Indiana State’s reputation and reach.”
Moore has remained active in the Wabash Valley throughout his career. His community involvement has included service with the Wabash Valley Community Foundation Distribution Committee and work with the League of Women Voters. He is a past recipient of the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce’s 12 Under 40 Award and the Polaris Award recognizing Terre Haute North Vigo High School alumni.
Moore is also ordained in the Church of God in Christ. Outside of his professional and community activities, he enjoys spending time with family and friends and playing tennis.
