Meet Me at 18th and Popper…? Or is it Poplar? Something about that address doesn’t quite sit right. What appears to be a small detail becomes a thread leading into a real 2022 Terre Haute homicide investigation that is both complex and unsettling. Presented by Investigator Brad Rumsey—retired Terre Haute Police Department violent crimes detective and current member of the Vigo County Prosecutor’s Office—this program traces the case from its earliest moments through arrest. The investigation brings together DNA evidence, surveillance video, ballistics, social media activity, and eyewitness testimony. Attendees will view portions of the actual suspect interview and body camera footage from the arrest. As the case unfolds, one detail becomes difficult to reconcile: the victim and suspect were best friends, former roommates, and co-workers. Despite the evidence, a clear motive remains elusive. And then there’s that address: “18th and Popper.” A mistake, a clue, or something more? The answer requires careful attention to every detail.
