Microsoft Copilot is an artificial intelligence platform designed to enhance productivity, creativity, research, learning, and content creation. Indiana State University has adopted Microsoft Copilot within the Microsoft 365 environment to provide a secure AI experience that aligns with university technology standards and data protection requirements. Information available through OIT's Sycamore Root resources highlights Copilot's use as a research assistant, content generation tool, and productivity enhancer for faculty, staff, and students.
Copilot Chat Available to All Faculty, Staff, and Students
Microsoft Copilot Chat is available to all Indiana State University faculty, staff, and students at no additional cost. Copilot Chat provides access to AI-powered conversations, brainstorming assistance, writing support, summarization, research assistance, and other productivity features within Microsoft's secure environment.
Microsoft 365 Copilot Licenses Available for Faculty and Staff
Faculty and staff who require deeper integration with Microsoft 365 applications may request a Microsoft 365 Copilot license through OIT. Microsoft 365 Copilot provides advanced capabilities integrated directly into applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams. Licenses are available upon request and are intended for employees who would benefit from the enhanced functionality. Requests require supervisory approval, cost approximately $20/mo, and mandatory training must be completed before a license is assigned.
